Have you ever risk it all for a chance at a better life?!
I owned a salon/spa in Alabama for six years AND I gave it all up! In 2014, upon getting to know my mentor & business coach, I sold EVERYTHING and even had my husband quit his job so I could pursue my dream to become a Platform Artist in Color Education. Sounds crazy, I know! Let's just say, it didn't work out.
However, after several months of ups and downs, I kept feeling called to open my own space again. I was so scared! My husband and I had been through so much to the point we were completely broke without even a glimmer of hope. We were in over our heads with everything from medical bills, car loans, housing and of course, credit card debt. (YIKES!) How many of you have been there? Ugh..
Moving along, I couldn't ignore that "small voice" telling me to "Do It!" Of course, I had every excuse in the book. So with no money, only a small clientele, and that very strong, constant "small voice" nagging at me, I agreed to take the Leap of FAITH!
Now see this is where it gets really good...
You see I hadn't told anyone while I was researching and doing the numbers, including my Husband! Later that day, my husband comes home from his job and hands me a folded, small, neon orange post it note. I ask him what it is before opening it and he excitedly says, "I just found out we're getting a bonus and that number is how much it's going to be!" I slowly open it and I felt this "deep, punch you in the gut and want to pass out" feeling. I began sobbing. My husband franticlly ask what is wrong and he is trying to console me. With a snotty nose, tears pouring from my face, I hand my husband the piece of paper with a number circled in big, blue ink. We looked together and both numbers matched to THE PENNY! He then asks what I was showing him. I shared with him how I had been feeling called to open another salon. How I had been crunching the numbers and how I told God that whatever it was, I would do it. I knew HE would show up! You see this is how you know you are married the right one. He looked right at me and said, "Okay, let's do it!"
Moving forward. When I tell you that EVERYTHING began to fall into place. From the space to the money to the furnishings to the supplies. It was like every door was unlocking before me. (Side note: The loft we are located in now on Field Street. I saw that exact space, EMPTY, in 2014 before I moved here and I had felt a little nudge then. Turns out, it was a barbershop before I moved into it.)
Final thoughts. We had the rug ripped out from under us in more ways than one. There was a time, I was ready to give up completely. But through it all, I learned I need to immediately trust God. Because even when the numbers don't add up, That's where He SHOWS UP!
